Visiting the village of Kritsa, almost 500 meters before entering the village we find an old church with unique architecture figure. This is the three-nave Byzantine church of Panagia Kera.

The central aisle is dedicated to the Mother of God, it is the first that built and dates from the 13th century. The two side aisles are later and date back to the 14th century. The north aisle is dedicated to Saint Anthony and south to St. Anne.

What makes famous the temple and has made it a significant Byzantine monument is the unique well preserved Byzantine frescoes from various periods of the Byzantine art. The church bears a dome in the central aisle, and found outside the six struts that create this unique architectural ensemble.

You can visit Panagia Kera through our tours Tour 7 and Tour 8, and meet one of the most important Byzantine monuments of the island.
