Miliarakis winery is located in Peza village, 17 km distance from Heraklion, a place that holds 70% of the total wine production of the island, and Miliarakis winery is one of the main producers.
The winery began in 1932 as a company and established as standard production - vitrification unit, having a history in wine production since 1870. Miliarakis brothers founded in Peza the first industrial wine production facility exporting bulk wine in France and England. In 1952 Miliarakis winery bottle the first wine on the island named Minos.
Today the company is dedicated to bottled quality wine improving and constantly highlighting the Cretan vineyard. The varieties used are Kotsifali, Mantilari, Vilana, Vidiano and Thrapsathiri. In the winery, the visitor has the opportunity to see old winery machines with special exhibit a traditional stone wine press. There is also a projection room where you can learn the history of the winery through the short film and of course tasting room where you can get to know the wines of the company.
